NHS LEAD Conferences Promote Student Leadership

A Twitter user based Woodland, CA, Max Imbach is pursuing his diploma at Woodland High School. In recognition of his outstanding grades, Max Imbach has been inducted into scholastic organizations including the National Honor Society (NHS).

Officially established in 1921, the National Honor Society recognizes high school students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of service, scholarship, character, and leadership. In addition to scholarship programs and college admission support, NHS provides opportunities for members to develop leadership skills through its Leadership Experience and Development (LEAD) Conferences.

Offered in cities across the country, these weekend workshops provide meaningful peer-to-peer network opportunities and help students develop powerful leadership skills. LEAD conferences invite participants to share ideas about relevant topics such as peer pressure, bullying, substance abuse, and healthy lifestyles. Students also work with advisers to plan fundraising projects and other community initiatives. The goal of the conference is to prepare students for leadership roles both locally and regionally.
